Game Length

Base minutes per chapter drive your casual estimate. Adjust after each session to keep totals honest.

Speedrun Time

Speed mode reduces branch and collectible minutes, modeling confident movement and fewer pauses.

Casual Mode

Casual mode adds buffer for screenshots, hint pauses, and scenic pacing—ideal for relaxed playthroughs.

Platform Performance Factors

PC & Epic Games

Higher frame rates reduce camera drag. Use a lower platform factor (0.95-0.97) to reflect faster traversal and loading times.

Mobile & Netflix

Android/iOS performance varies. We use a neutral factor (1.0) for iOS/Netflix, and a slight buffer (1.05) for Android to account for potential device lag.

Methodology & Details

The estimator calculates remaining time using per-chapter baselines, collectible minutes, backtrack penalties, hint/adjust time, and platform multipliers. Speed mode applies a 0.8x factor to base time and a 0.6x factor to collectibles; casual mode uses 1.0x. Two reviewers validate each release—one plays blind to keep spoiler safety, another stress-tests extreme inputs. No analytics or network calls track your data.

// Core Logic Pseudocode
remaining = max(0, chapters - completed) paceFactor = pace == speed ? 0.8 : 1.0 collectibleFactor = pace == speed ? 0.6 : 1.0 mainline = remaining * baseMinutes * paceFactor collectibles = remaining * collectibleMinutes * collectibleFactor backtrack = remaining * backtrackMinutes hints = remaining * hintMinutes totalMinutes = (mainline + collectibles + backtrack + hints) * platformFactor

Assumptions & Edge Cases

Assumptions

12 chapters by default; times are user-edited; backtrack penalty represents travel tax; platform factor captures performance differences.

Edge Cases

  • Completed ≥ total: remaining time shows zero.
  • Negative inputs: clamped to zero.
  • Extreme backtrack values: planner will skew long.

Common Mistakes

  • Leaving default chapter count after DLC.
  • Assuming screenshots add big time.
  • Using speed mode while intending full collectible sweeps.

Methodology, Assumptions & Sources

Updated: 2025-12-06. Launch version focused on time estimates; future updates may add per-chapter variance and route-aware timing.

Assumptions

  • 12 chapters by default; user can edit counts and times.
  • Platform factor adjusts totals based on performance expectations.
  • Speed vs casual alters base and collectible multipliers.

Formulas

  • Remaining time: (mainline + collectibles + backtrack + hints) * platformFactorMainline/collectible terms scale with remaining chapters

Worked Examples

Casual cleanup

  1. Set pace to casual and backtrack to 3 minutes.
  2. Adjust collectibles to 4 minutes if you sweep slowly.
  3. Review hours estimate before a long session to plan breaks.

Data Sources

  • Internal timing logs on PC, Netflix, Epic, Android, and iOS devices
  • Community average chapter times from launch week
  • QA estimates for collectible and hint pacing

Caveats

  • If platform performance changes (patches, device swap), update platform selection and per-chapter times.
  • Route-specific shortcuts are not modeled; adjust backtrack downward if you find faster paths.

FAQ

Is this time estimator spoiler-safe?

Yes. It uses time inputs only—no puzzle hints or solutions. All calculations run locally in your browser.

Can I adjust for my device performance?

Yes. Choose your platform (PC, Netflix, Epic, Android, iOS) and edit base minutes, branch time, and backtrack penalties to match your experience.

How does speed vs casual mode differ?

Speed mode trims branch and collectible time; casual mode adds buffer for screenshots, collectibles, and slower navigation.

Does the estimator track progress across devices?

Not yet. Everything is local-only. We plan optional localStorage and JSON export for cross-device continuity.

Is this free and reviewed?

Yes. It is free, reviewed by the LootCalc editorial team, and includes author, reviewer, and last updated dates with JSON-LD.

How accurate is the output?

Accuracy depends on your inputs. Update times after you feel a chapter was faster or slower than expected, and raise backtrack penalty if you replay without fast travel.
